We Break Down The Winners, Losers And The Dubious Endorsements

First of all, congratulations to the winners! We didn’t see most of the results that we hoped for, but we did see some welcome names in the winner’s circle. We’re going to list the results here, but in a unique way - in comparison to the following anonymous mailer that went out just days in advance of election day.

The first thing you’ll notice is the mailer title: “This Is Your Official Ballot”. This isn’t an official anything. It’s a campaign advertisement and a decptive one at best. The next thing that you’ll notice is that no one claims the mailer which appears to be a violation of Louisiana election law as found in Title 18 Section 1463 covering anonymous mailers. And by covering them, we mean prohibiting them.

“(c) If the communication is not authorized by a candidate, a political committee of a candidate, or its agents, it shall clearly state the (i) name, (ii) physical address (not post office box), and (iii) telephone number and the world-wide web address if available of the person, committee, entity or organization who paid for the communication and state that the communication is not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee. The name of the payer shall be given in full and no acronyms shall be used.”

As of this writing we do not know who is responsible for the mystery mailer but we are going to find out. In the mean time let’s look at the election winners through the prism of who was endorsed on the mailer and who was not, starting with…

As you can see, there is a high correlation between those on the deceptive and anonymous mailer which runs afoul of election law and those who won. Just as the people behind the mailer failed to disclose themselves, we won’t disclose how we’ll approach this situation, but be assured that it will be pursued.
